Price makes save of the year in first preseason game!

In case you missed last night’s game between the Montreal Canadiens and Florida Panthers, you missed a preseason game for the ages. The Panthers ended up winning the match by a score of 5-2 thanks in large part to two goal evenings from forwards Evgeny Dadonov and Jared McCann, but there’s plenty more to chew on besides goals…

First up, Habs forward Max Domi absolutely DROPPED Panthers blue liner Aaron Ekblad with a nasty sucker punch.

Check it out:

Ekblad left the game beaten and bloodied, while Domi was assessed a game misconduct.

Already, fans and media are expecting supplemental discipline for the 23 year old Domi.

Max Domi sucker punched Aaron Ekblad and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s suspended. That was cheap as hell.

Habs Max Domi drops gloves and pops Panthers’ Aaron Ekblad with bit of a sucker punch to face, cutting him open. Domi is 5-foot-10 and 193, Ekblad is 6-foot-4 and 220. Domi gets a minor, major and match penalty.

He’s looking to his left… 90 degrees.
They were engaged. No doubt about it. Maybe Ekblad should be protecting himself better.
But I’d have problem with the league trying to cut down on sucker punches.

Later on, Habs goaltender Carey Price made an early candidate for save of the season when he came sprawling across his crease to rob Panthers forward Mike Hoffman of a sure goal. Check out this incredible, diving glove save:

That's VINTAGE Carey Price right there! Price looks to be in midseason form and it's not even October yet! This bodes very well for the Habs, especially given how much they've struggled in recent seasons when Price was down and out with injury. The 31 year old netminder managed 49 games for the Habs last season, but struggled for large stretches of the campaign. He ended up sporting a 3.11 goals against average and .900 save percentage by the end of his season, well below his career average of 2.46 goals against average and .918 save percentage. If the Habs themselves are going to bounce back in 2018-19, they'll need a strong bounce back season from their netminder, as well.
