Projected #1 pick Lafreniere in Ottawa for the weekend!

Will the Senators make the most of this?

Everything happens for a reason and the Senators might have this motto in mind this weekend as it could get them closer to Alexis Lafreniere.

The projected first overall pick is expected to spend the weekend in Ottawa, according to Sylvain St-Laurent, as he will play two games at the Bob, Saturday and Sunday.

We wonder if the Senators and general manager Pierre Dorion will take the time to go see the young player and get to know him on a personal level to see how great of a fit he would be with the rebuilding franchise.

The Senators currently sit in 29th place of the league’s standings and have great odds to get the first overall pick.

This could prevent Lafreniere from looking like Connor McDavid when the Edmonton Oilers won the first overall pick at the lottery back in 2015.

If Lafreniere gets to know the team and management a little better, he could be able to hide his disappointment better than McDavid.
