Projected #2 pick in the draft Patrick Laine says teams are making a big mistake.

Big words from the young star.

According to the vast majority of predictions in and around the National Hockey League, center Auston Matthews is going to be the #1 pick in the draft, but the projected #2 pick in the very same draft believes that is a mistake.

“My season was the best,” said young Finnish star Patrik Laine as per TSN's Gary Lawless. “It was pretty amazing. Everything went so well all the time. I didn’t have any tough times. It all fell into place. It was amazing to be part of the teams I was on and to have that success together. My opinion is I should be drafted first overall. You never know what’s going to happen. I think it’s going to be a tough race right until the end.”

That's right Laine feels he should be the #1 pick in the draft, and with his combination of both size and skill as well as the MVP performance he displayed at the most recent international tournament,  it's hard to argue with him, although Matthews might have a thing or two to say about it.

Now whether or not his comments were a direct message to the Leafs organization remain to be seen.
