A little bit of investigation has turned up some extremely interesting evidence, even though that evidence at this time remains purely circumstantial.

Earlier this morning TSN's Sean Simpson reported that both the Nashville Predators and the Winnipeg Jets have significant interest in Matt Duchene and that additionally both clubs are attempting to acquire him. This is particularly noteworthy if only due to the fact that both these teams are expected to clash at some point during the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs which means the team that ends up with Duchene could not only significantly strengthen their own roster, but also potentially weaken a particularly tough rival in the process as well.

Simpson did not however shed any light on which team was the more likely landing spot for the highly talented center. In a very interesting turn of events however the replies to Simpson's initial report actually proved to be even more interesting than the report itself with one local hockey fan seemingly taking matters into his own hands and doing a little bit of research.

A man named Brian Manookian, an attorney based out of Nashville Tennessee, replied to Simpson with some extremely interesting evidence in the form of Property Records from the city of Nashville. Those records show that a man named "Matthew Duchene" has purchased a townhouse that was under construction back in November and you don't need me to tell you why that would raise a ton of eyebrows around the National Hockey League.

Now to be clear the reason that I only call this circumstantial evidence is due to the fact that we really don't even know if the Matthew Duchene purchasing this house is the same one that is currently playing for the Ottawa Senators. It could purely be a coincidence and it could be that a different man of the same name is purchasing a house in Nashville at this time.

That being said we also all know that Duchene is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season, and in theory that means he will be able to sign with any team that he deems worthy. If Duchene has his heart set on playing in Nashville getting a home built a few months before that free agent period would certainly be a good way to set up roots in that city.

Again, to be clear, this remains purely circumstantial evidence and any links drawn by me are purely speculation. But boy oh boy is this every interesting.
