There were some very interesting trade rumors earlier this summer and now they are bubbling up to the surface again.

Prior to the restricted free agency fiasco between Hampus Lindholm and his team the Anaheim Ducks, there had been rumors, according to TSN insider Darren Dreger, that the Ducks and the Colorado Avalanche had discussed swapping Lindholm for Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog. Of course we know now that the deal never came to be.

Now however there are rumors of a very smilar deal involving both teams, with Bleacher Report's Lyle Richardson suggesting that Landeskog could still be traded to the Ducks, albeit for a difference defenseman, Ducks veteran Cam Fowler.

From Richardson:

Should the Ducks struggle to score as the season progresses, Murray could have little choice but to shop a blueliner for a scorer. As Boylen suggested, Fowler could fetch the best return—perhaps someone as talented as Landeskog. He could prove tempting for the Ducks.

Richardson believes that Landeskog would help solve the Ducks offensive problems on the wing, while Fowler would help bolster the blue line of an Avalanche team that has been floundering for some time now. It's worth noting that Fowler is a significant step down from Lindholm who was mentioned in the deal this summer, so there could perhaps be more at play here than just a player for player deal.
