Earlier this morning, Oilers insider Ryan Rishaug of TSN needed to rectify the ongoing chatter from a Finnish report that forward Jesse Puljujarvi was on the verge of accepting a contract with a KHL team for the upcoming season.

A report surfaced on a Finnish website early Wednesday morning that the forward was set to sign with Jokerit Helsinki three years after being selected by Edmonton fourth overall in 2016 NHL Draft.

Finally, Puljujarvi’s agent, Markus Lehto, later told TSN hockey Insider Darren Dreger that the restricted free agent is continuing to rehab in Edmonton and has no current plans to change leagues.

However, Bob McKenzie has made it clear that the young forward wants out of Edmonton and is hoping to be part of another NHL team next season.

While it sounds almost certain that Puljujarvi would greatly benefit from a change of scenery to jumpstart his career, many find it hard to see another NHL team wanting to acquire his services.

He managed to score just four goals and posted five assists in 46 games with the Oilers this season, and didn’t do much better in the first two campaigns… In 139 games with the Oilers, Puljujarvi has 17 goals and 37 points.

However, his client seems adamant that he should stay in the NHL, despite some people saying he could make the mistake of moving overseas and get his career underway in the KHL.
