Quick goes down and causes controversy in Toronto on Monday night.

There was some controversy on Monday night and it may have implications for the coming days.

Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick went down in the first period after what appeared to be a very minor collision with Toronto Maple Leafs veteran forward Matt Martin and it led to a great deal of controversy.

Based on the video replays presented to the public it seemed to be very minor contract and while Quick did appear to get hit in the head he also appeared to do his best job of selling on this play. That led to Quick leaving the crease and heading to the locker room only to immediately return before the next play, only to be forced off the ice by National hockey League officials once again.

While Quick would eventually return to his crease, according to a report from The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the NHL took notice of the fact that Quick was down on one knee with his head down between plays after doing so.

No word yet on what role the NHL's concussion spotters played in this, or what may be coming from the League moving forward.
