Radulov gets in altercation with his head coach during the game!

This is quite the soap opera in Dallas, and it seems to be getting worse, and worse.

Stars forward Alexander Radulov was benched for the 10:20 remaining of the first period of the team's 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night for getting in altercation with his head coach Jim Montgomery on the bench during the contest. He got benched for talking back to the first-year NHL coach.

The new head coach wasn't afraid to send the top-line winger a message by parking him on the bench for a bit, and quite honestly, it seemed to do some good for the Russian forward, who still managed to end the game with an assist and over 19:09 of ice time. On top of that, Radulov completely agrees with his coach's decision as he explained to reporters after the contest.

"I got benched," Radulov said. "It was the right decision by coach. I wasn't playing good and I talked back with Monty and he basically sit me until the end of the period. It's the right decision and I can't do that. It's been an issue in my career, but I got to learn from it. I got to be better.
"He did the right thing and showed the whole team, Radulov added.

Things have been quite rough for the Stars this season, and it got worse when Stars CEO Jim Lites ripped captain Jamie Benn and fellow high-priced forward Tyler Seguin, telling reporters last month their play has been “terrible” and saying owner Tom Gaglardi was frustrated as well.

There is possibly a tension in the dressing room, and it seems to have gotten to the bench on Tuesday with the altercation between Radulov and coach Montgomery.

The good thing here is that Radulov admits it was the right call and we assume this altercation will not be an issue that will drag on.

The Stars (23-21-4) were five points up on a playoff spot just a week ago. They were in third place in the Central Division. However, following a four-game losing streak, the crowded Western Conference rapidly closed, which means rivals teams are closing in of the Stars' Wild Card spot they're holding on tight to.
