Rangers add another veteran goalie to their roster!

Alright New York Rangers fans, do not see this as the team trying to replace Henrik Lundqvist. That’s not the case. 

On Friday, the Rangers shock some fans by signing goalie Keith Kinkaid to a two-year, $1.65 million contract with an AAV of 825,000. They have to realize that by signing the 31-year-old netminder to a two-year deal, the Rangers get some help with the expansion draft requirements because Igor Shesterkin will be exempt.

It also is a replacement in the veteran goalie category for Hartford, previously held by J.F. Berube.

Last season, Kinkaid spend 17 games in the AHL between the Laval Rocket and Charlotte Checkers. With Laval he went 3-7-3 with a .876 save percentage and a 3.44 goals against average. In four games with the Checkers he went 2-1-1 with a .924 SV% and a 2.24 goals against average.

He also appeared in six games with the Montreal Canadiens, posting subpar numbers and losing his spot on the roster as Carey Price’s backup. 

This is another move for Kinkaid, who will be able to bring on a veteran voice to help out the young duo of Tyler Wall and Adam Huska in the minors.
