Rangers change their minds about Kreider

They keep going back and forth… what’s the deal?

While the New York Rangers have made great additions to their roster ahead of the 2019-20 season, it seems like they remain uncertain about one subtraction…

The Blue Shirts remain unsure about veteran forward Chris Kreider’s future in New York as they have once again changed their minds, according to Dan Rosen of NHL.com.

Rosen reports that Kreider is expected to start the upcoming season with the Rangers. The 28-year-old winger is a year away from unrestricted free agency and his future with the Rangers is unclear as he keeps getting brought up in trade chatter.

Rangers president John Davidson said he “totally expects” Krieder to be present at the team’s training camp but suggested it was difficult to make promises regarding a new contract.

“He’s got one year left, and that should be a whole lot of importance to him to come in and have a great camp and a great year, and we’ll just see where it all goes,” said Davidson.

While general manager Jeff Gorton agreed with Davidson’s comments, neither could rule out trading Kreider even if the Rangers were in playoff contention close to the trade deadline…

This is getting more and more confusing. This is probably not the vote of confidence Kreider was hoping for…
