Some bad news for the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

Rangers insider Larry Brooks of the New York Post has learned that injured defenseman Marc Staal, who missed the final two games before the Rangers hit a give day break, is suffering from "post-concussion" symptoms and as a result his return is unclear.

The Rangers have a practice schedule for Thursday and will play the Toronto Maple Leafs at Madison Square Garden on Friday night, and we'll likely know more on his status once those events have come and gone.

The former first round pick has long been a core part of the Rangers defense, and any long-term absence from him could be very detrimental for the team. Staal had previously missed 30 games in the 2011-2012 season with concussion symptoms and the hope right now is that this won't be a repeat of that scenario.
