The New York Rangers came up with a major win against the Penguins over the weekend and did so despite having come into the postseason with a banged up roster, and now it looks like that win may have bought them the time they needed to get healthy.

On Monday the Rangers were treated to a major surprise when injured captain Ryan McDonagh participated in a full contact practice with teammates, this despite suffering a major hand injury earlier this month. It was a sign of hope for the Rangers, but head coach Alain Vigneault wasn't overly optimistic, stating that McDonagh was still doubtful for Tuesday's Game 3 against Pittsburgh, however he did add that “stranger things have happened.”

Despite the fact he may not play, the potential return of the captain appears to be having a positive impact on team morale already, both teammates Kevin Klein and Dan Boyle were pumped to see him back on the ice.

"It was great to see Mac flying around," said Klein.

"It made everybody feel good to see him out there," added Boyle.

Even if McDonagh does not take the ice on Tuesday with his teammates, he may have already done enough to inspire them to victory, and it sure looks like he intends to be back sooner rather than later.
