Rangers McDonagh goes down to injury on Monday night.

The Rangers have lost one of their top defenseman, the question on everyone's mind now is for how long.

Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh was injured on Monday night when he sacrificed his body, in this case his hand, to block a shot attempt from Columbus Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky. Despite taking the hard one-timer straight to the hand, McDonagh actually tried to tough it out at first, and it was some time before he left to the locker room and was eventually ruled out by the Rangers.

McDonagh has already missed some time due to injury earlier in the season, but losing him at this stage of the season, and possibly the playoffs would be devastating for the Rangers. Hopefully the fact that he did not immediately head to the locker room is some indication that the injury is not too severe.
