Rangers' McIlrath takes on Flyers' Simmonds after notorious punch to the face.

As dictated by the hockey code, the New York Rangers couldn't just let what happened last game against the Philadelphia Flyers slide.

Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds was ejected for punching Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh last Saturday, and McDonagh has yet to play since due to a concussion. The Rangers had to stand up for their fallen captain, and Dylan Mcllrath sought the retribution.

It came only 39 seconds into Sunday's game, when the Rangers defenseman started jawing with Simmonds and the two dropped the gloves.

It was a spirited bout in which a few monster right hands were thrown by the two men.

The fight left the Flyers' tough guy with a big gash over his eye. There's clearly no love lost between these Metropolitan Division rivals.
