The New York Rangers have a lot of work to do if they want to keep their franchising moving in the right direction, and one of the biggest tasks on their short term to-do list is getting a new deal done for forward Chris Kreider.

It's a big deal for the Rangers not only because Kreider has put up over 40 points for them over each of the last two seasons, but because of their constant struggle against the cap, and by the sounds of it Kreider isn't going to make it easy on them.

According to a report from former NHL defenseman Aaron Ward the two sides are miles apart when it comes to the financial of the deal with the Rangers reportedly offering $3.2 million while Kreider on the other hand is looking for upwards of $4.75 million.

It's important to note that Kreider is headed for arbitration, and his $4.75 is likely an inflated ask, but nonetheless for the cap strapped Rangers it's going to be a tough deal to get done, if it gets done at all.
