The New York Rangers have reportedly added a long-time Montreal Canadien to their roster.
A report from Rangers insider Larry Brooks of the New York Post has revealed that the Rangers and center David Desharnais have come to terms on a one-year deal that will earn Desharnais $1 million dollars.
The 30-year-old Desharnais was moved to the Edmonton Oilers late last season, and for a long time there was a belief that his position on the Canadiens roster was more a result of the Habs lack of depth up the middle rather than Desharnais' skill on the ice.
With a low-cost and short-term deal like this it's clear the Rangers intend to use Desharnais as a depth option on their roster and not as a top-six type of center.
