Vegas Golden Knights team insider Jesse Granger of The Athletic had to ask forward Ryan Reaves how his knuckles after the 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Tuesday night. The gritty forward answered that they "were sore, but alright", and we surely get why they might still be throbbing. Reaves dropped the gloves with Rangers defenseman Adam McQuaid during the third period of the contest, in the most heavyweight bout of the season yet.

Reaves was avenging teammate and Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty, who was leveled by McQuaid away from the play. At the same, another scrap was about to take place, but when people realize the best fight of the night was taken place at centre ice between Reaves and McQuaid, all eyes turned to the heavyweight slugfest.

"Nobody is going to come into our team and try and intimidate us. Especially going after our top players," said head coach Gerard Gallant, almost as a warning to every team in the NHL.

The fight wasn't crazy long, however, the blows coming from these two monsters were massive. Reaves stands at 6 feet 1 inch and weighs 225 pounds, whereas McQuaid is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. The two men never backed down. While the fight didn't last long, Reaves still managed to overwhelm McQuaid with a flurry of punches in the end.

Here is how the fight went down:

According to Hockey Fights’ listings, this was Reaves’ third fight of the 2018-19 season. This was McQuaid's first bout since March 2018.

The Golden Knights extended their winning streak to an impressive seven games with last night's victory and clearly they will not be intimidated.
