After winning their first preseason game on Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins by a score of 4-2, the Detroit Red Wings were in Boston to take on the Bruins.

Head coach Jeff Blashill dressed a rather different lineup than the previous one, slotting in 22-year-old forward and 2013 first round pick Anthony Mantha (1G) instead of 25-year-old Mitch Callahan who had scored twice the night before. Moreover, Grand Rapids Griffins goaltender Jared Coreau was given the green light to play in his first-ever full preseason game and he certainly did not disappoint. Thus far, he has stopped 52 of the 54 shots he’s faced in regulation, and boasts an outstanding .963 save percentage through two games.

However, the stars of the evening go by the names of Drew Miller (1G, 1A, 4 shots), Steve Ott, and Luke Glendening (7 hits), the latter two scoring a goal each and adding two assists. How sustainable this line’s offensive production will be is anybody’s guess…

Kyle Criscuolo scored as well, while Grand Rapids’ defenseman Ryan Sproul played a team-high 22:34 while registering 6 shots on goal and one block. Dylan Sadowy also fired 6 shots on net while notching a helper on Criscuolo’s tally.

Both teams will face each other once more at the Joe Louis Arena on Friday night.
