After showing the Chicago Blackhawks how it’s done last Sunday by defeating them 6-3, the Detroit Red Wings figured they could run a few more experiments to see which standout players will be joining them next week for the start of the regular season schedule.

What they didn’t expect, however, was being taken to school by a hungry Blackhawks team.

Last night, Joel Quenneville’s troops served the Red Wings a lesson in a one-sided, 6-1 affair. Ryan Hartman, Vinnie Hinostroza, Alexandre Fortin, Nick Schmaltz, Artem Anisimov and Richard Panik each lit up the lamp as Jeff Blashill’s squad retaliated with a single tally which came courtesy of Louis-Marc Aubry.

Granted, the Red Wings have another three preseason games to finalize their roster ahead of their matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 13th, and they will certainly need to start icing their A-team sooner than later. Goaltender Jimmy Howard can definitely use his teammates' help, as he allowed 6 goals on 32 shots.

Check back soon for a preview of tonight’s duel against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
