Despite peppering Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevsky with 29 shots last night at Little Caesars Arena, the Detroit Red Wings walk away from the tilt as 3-2 losers.

Bolts super sniper Nikita Kucherov led the way for his team with two goals, the first of which was pure highlight reel material. After cradling a pass on the sideboard, Kucherov snapped a bullet over the shoulder of Jimmy Howard for the game’s second goal.

The Wings’ first goal came on a strange play in which Justin Abdelkader broke in alone on Vasilevsky and was hauled down on the play, but managed to get a shot off before Darren Helm buried the rebound. Lightning coach John Cooper challenged the play as goaltender interference and successfully had the goal overturned. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE… because Abdelkader was hooked from behind, he was awarded a penalty shot:

Justice served. In the end though, it wasn’t enough as the Wings could muster only one more goal before the final buzzer sounded.
