Recently acquired Shinkaruk talks about being traded to the Flames.

The newest member of the Calgary Flames is young, talented, and he's a local boy and by the sounds of it he's extremely excited to be coming to play for an organization he grew up rooting for.

First young Hunter Shinkaruk admitted that the whole ordeal was a major shock to him, this was the first time he had been traded at any level and it clearly took him aback.

"I’ve never been traded before in junior or pro, so obviously it’s a big surprise and a big shock," said Shinkaruk as per Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province.

However when speaking to Wes Gilbertson of Postmedia, it was clear some of the initial shock had worn off and Shinkaruk was really starting to get excited to play for his hometown team.

"Obviously my head is spinning, but I could not be happier."

"A kid growing up in Calgary, he wants to win in Calgary. So it’s pretty cool I have that opportunity."
