An incredible atmosphere in Detroit tonight.

The Maple Leafs aren't anything close to what resembles a playoff contender, and right now the Detroit Red Wings are fighting to hold on to their playoff position, but there was no doubting that it was a playoff-like atmosphere in Detroit on Sunday night.

With the close proximity between Detroit and Toronto it's never a big surprise to see Leaf fans show up in numbers at Joe Louis Arena, but tonight although they were outnumbered the Leafs fans who showed up were full of gusto and spirit, and they even gave the Red Wings hometown crowd a run for it's money.

With the game still scoreless in the opening minutes of the second period fans in Detroit began chanting Let's Go Red Wings, as they traditionally do when rooting for their team. However this time a competing chant could be heard, and it was loud, as the Leaf fans in attendance used the intervals between the chants to throw in a Go Leafs Go chant of their own.

Not something that is likely to make fans in Detroit happy, an opposing chant in their own building, and to make matters worse the Leafs are currently up a goal on the Wings.
