Luke Glendening is hoping to be back to full health shortly.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the speedy Detroit Red Wings' forward has taken to the ice multiple times this offseason to make sure that the ankle bone bruise that bothered him at the end of last season has fully healed.

“So far, so good,” he said. “Hopefully, it will keep turning in the right direction. We've had enough time off; I should be all set.”

Glendening was assured his place for years to come when he was signed to a four-year, $7.2-million extension with a season to go on his current contract. The team clearly values his skating ability and his gritty two-way play. The team also hopes to get his offensive game going as well, as he contributed eight goals 21 points last season along with one assist in 5 playoff games.

The postseason and the way they ended for the Wings remains a sore spot for the 27-year old, as the team was ousted five games into the 2016 playoffs.

“We we're all frustrated by the way things ended,” Glendening said. “In the off-season, you have a lot of time to think about it, so here we are. I think we are all ready to get back on, and we still have another two months, basically. We are going to be extra ready by the time it starts.

“I just want to continue to contribute any way I can, be solid on the penalty kill, and we'll see where it shakes out.”
