Red Wings expected to make a difficult decision today.

The Detroit Red Wings have a tough decision to make and it sounds like they have to make it now.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie is now reporting that today is "Decision Day" for the Red Wings when it comes to 28-year-old veteran defenseman Brendan Smith and the Red Wings will either sign him to a new deal or ship him out.

McKenzie believes that it would take a three-year contract in the range of $3.5 million plus to get Smith signed and that's assuming the Red Wings are willing to give him that kind of money and term. According to McKenzie there are still a number of teams interested in Smith and with names like Kevin Shattenkirk already coming off the board his value is increasing by the minute.
