There are rumors of a potential trade coming from the Anaheim Ducks, and the Detroit Red Wings are one of three team's mentioned as potential landing spots in a recent USA Today report.

According to Kevin Allen the Ducks will look to trade one of their veteran defense once they have completed the signing of restricted free agent Hampus Lindholm. With Lindholm signed and presumably both Shea Theodore and Brandon Montour joining the NHL ranks, Allen believes the Ducks will have an excess at the position.  That leaves an odd man out, and one that Allen believes will be veteran blue liner Cam Fowler, a player several teams are likely to consider.

The Red Wings would presumably be asked to give up one of their forwards in this deal, and it would make sense, rumors of an offense for defense trade from Detroit have been circulating since earlier in the summer.

It's worth noting here that both Edmonton and Boston were also listed as potential destinations for a Fowler trade.
