Red Wings prospect shows some promise Wednesday night.

There's no doubt that 2015 was a rough year for Red Wings prospect Anthony Mantha.

Mantha was expected to be a big part of the organization moving forward, after all the reports on the young man suggested he had both the size and the skill to compete at an elite level, however he repeatedly failed to meet those expectations. Ken Holland even sounded disappointed when he spoke of Mantha's odds of making the team during training camp prior to the start of the season.

On Wednesday night, Mantha had himself a very big game for the Griffins, opening the game with two unanswered goals before eventually putting the game out of reach in the third period to complete a hat trick. It was a great moment for the talented prospect, and during his post game interview it was clear emotions were riding high for the young man.

Hopefully he can use the momentum from this game to finally propel himself to meet those lofty expectations the Red Wings have of him.
