Players aren’t the only ones who can get injured in a game, and unfortunately a man was down in tonight’s Game 6 between the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks.

Fan favourite referee Wes McCauley collided with one of his linesmen during the first period of the contest and ended leaving the game with what appeared to be a leg injury.

McCauley took the time to evaluate his pain before he made the call to be replaced on the ice. Gord Dwyer, who was the appointed replacement on site, stepped on the ice mere moments after McCauley exited in pain.

The Blues were leading 1-0 over the Sharks at the time McCauley left the game.

We expect to get more details on his injury after the game and see what it means for his officiating time for the next round.
