A lot of team in the National Hockey League will be looking West to the Vancouver Canucks as a rumor is suggesting that defenseman Erik Gudbranson, who’s in a contract year, is finding himself on the trading block, as reported by the Province's Jason Botchford.

While Gudbranson has not been delivering as expected this season, remaining scoreless in 11 games so far, a new beginning with a different team might be what he needs to become the quality defender he once was.

The 25-year-old, who was selected third overall by the Florida Panthers back in 2010, can be a strong defensive presence and the Canucks could look to ship him out.

Especially with Alexander Edler coming back next week and Troy Stecher in week or two, Gudbranson is likely to sit and might be willing to be traded elsewhere.

Panthers GM Dale Tallon expressed interest in bringing back Gudbranson during the offseason but the blueliner’s struggles could affect his trade value. Panthers defenseman Alex Petrovic is the doghouse and could be a fit with the Canucks.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens are reportedly looking at the market for help on their blue line. Gudbranson could be a great catch for any of these teams.
