A familiar face returned to practice Thursday for the Detroit Red Wings

Darren Helm was out of the play due to a lower-body injury (knee). He took a hit from Colorado’s Erik Johnson as he was receiving a pass from Anthony Mantha and got crunched.

Helm, 30-years-old, returned to practice on Thursday.

“Make the decision tomorrow,” coach Jeff Blashill said. “Possible. No contact really, today, so it’ll still be a decision tomorrow.”

Darren Helm played 42 games this year with the Detroit Red Wings. He scored 8 goals and registered 5 assists for a total of 13 points.

“It’s always a good battle with them,” Blashill said. “They’re obviously fighting hard for their playoff hopes and we’re making sure that we continue to play extremely hard every night and pay attention to detail and continue this culture that I think is one of the best in the league.”
