Report: Alex Tuch seriously injured in the preseason.

It sounds like the Las Vegas Golden Knights are going to be without a pretty significant weapon come the start of the 2019 - 2020 National Hockey League regular season. 

The Golden Knights were in preseason action on Friday when they faced off against the Los Angeles Kings and although they would eventually lose that contest to the Kings, you could argue that the news they received before the game was considerably worse than an exhibition loss. We learned shortly prior to the start of Friday's game that 23 year old Golden Knights forward Alex Tuch would be forced out of the game due to an undisclosed injury. At the time things did not seem particularly serious due to the fact that it is standard to keep players with even minor ailments out of preseason action, but now things sound considerably more dire for Tuch.

According to a report from Sin Bin Vegas it now sounds like Tuch has in fact been seriously injured, although we still at this time have no idea what the specific nature of that injury is. Sin Bin Vegas is reporting that Tuch is now being listed as "week to week," a status that is usually reserved for significant injuries that will keep a player out for the long term. We have also learned that the injury is believed to be of the "upper body" variety, however we do not have any additional details at this time. 

Given that we do not know the nature of Tuch's injury it is difficult to speculate on how exactly the injury was caused, but Tuch did go awkwardly into the boards during a preseason game earlier this week. It is purely speculation on my part at this time but that is the only incident that took place on the ice in which I feel like Tuch could have reasonably suffered a serious injury. 

As I stated earlier this is a big loss for the Golden Knights who saw Tuch score 20 goals for them last season while adding 32 assists for a total of 52 points over 74 games played. This also hurts a little extra for the Golden Knights as Tuch has just entered the first year of the brand new $33.25 million contract he signed with Vegas in October of last year.
