The worst kept secret in hockey was finally outed this past weekend when the Detroit Red Wings officially unveiled franchise legend Steve Yzerman as the team’s next general manager.

After a successful stint rebuilding the Tampa Bay Lightning, Yzerman has now been tasked with doing the same for his beloved Red Wings. Joining him in the team’s front office staff, according to a report from 97.1 The Ticket’s Jeff Riger, could be former teammate Sergei Fedorov.

Check it out:

Heard today that Yzerman might bring Sergei Fedorov into the organization.  Fedorov currently doesn’t have a “solid” job in hockey and he and Yzerman remain close.

If true, Fedorov should demand a hefty salary, great benefits and of course his number hanging from the rafters.

It’s worth noting that the 49 year old Fedorov has experience as a GM, serving as CSKA Moscow’s GM from 2013 until 2017.
