Report: Avalanche could announce their new coach within 24 hours.
Keystone Press.

The Colorado Avalanche were thrust into a terrible situation when Patrick Roy made the decision to leave the organization so late into the offseason, but it seems that under the leadership of Joe Sakic they have recovered well and made the best of a bad situation.

With relatively little time to scramble for a new coach this close to the start of the regular season the Avalanche were forced to expedite the process, and according to a report from Mike Chambers of the Denver post they have done just that. Chambers reported on Tuesday evening that the Avalanche could announce their new head coach as early as Wednesday, meaning we could expect an announcement with the next 24 hours.

It's still not clear who will be named the next head coach however yesterday reports surfaced suggesting that both Kevin Dineen and Bob Boughner had very productive meetings with the Avalanche, and there was speculation one of those two men would be named to the job.

It doesn't sound like we will be waiting very long for an answer.
