According to a report from Detroit Red Wings insider Ansar Khan of Mlive.com, Wings forward Anthony Mantha will not play tonight against the Tampa Bay Lighting and could be out for awhile.

Check it out:

Red Wings Anthony Mantha is out, possibly for a while, with undisclosed injury. Ken Holland said they’ll know more later today.

It’s believed that Mantha injured himself in a fight with Patrik Nemeth of the Colorado Avalanche this past weekend, but the Wings have not confirmed the source or the nature of the injury just yet.

Suffice it to say, this is NOT good news for Mantha or the team. The 24 year old power forward is off to a great start this season with nine goals and 14 points in 27 games.

UPDATE: The Red Wings have confirmed that Mantha will be out 4-6 weeks with a hand injury.
