Report: Bellemare will have hearing after very dangerous hit last night.

This one should come as little surprise to anyone.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has announced that it will review the hit delivered by Philadelphia Flyers forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare to Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov in Game 3 of their first round playoff series.

The hit, which was clearly from behind and occurred very late in the game appeared to be extremely dangerous, and it did in fact launch Orlov into the boards and may have resulted in serious injury if not for Orlov getting his arm up just in time to protect himself from the worst of the impact.

Bellemare was awarded a five minute major, and a game misconduct, but clearly the NHL feels this hit warrants a harsher penalty, and now all that remains to be seen is how many playoff games Bellemare will miss as a result.
