The situation for Marc-Andre Fleury in Pittsburgh has not appeared to be a pleasant one for the veteran goaltender and with Matt Murray clearly the goaltender of the future at this point, there have been rumors floating around suggesting that Fleury has requested a trade from the Penguins.
On Monday TSN insider Darren Dreger appeared to squash those rumors and while he didn't flat out state that Fleury had not requested a trade, it sounds like according to Dreger's sources such a request has not been made as of yet.
"Tough spot for Marc Andre Fleury and I'm certain he welcomes change and opportunity, but I don't believe he's asked for a trade."
This could mean that the Penguins have convinced Fleury to stay on for another playoff run something the Penguin would likely only be willing to do if Fleury were to waive his no-trade clause for the Expansion Draft. If so one of the biggest and longest running trade rumors of this season could turn out to be just that, nothing but a rumor.
