The Chicago Blackhawks have made a habit of finding great international talent and convincing them to make Chicago their National Hockey League destination, and it sounds like they may have done it once again.

In fact while many were busy gushing over the huge coup the Blackhawks pulled off by bringing in defenseman Brian Campbell at a huge discount, general manager Stan Bowman reserved his praise for a young man he acquired from the Kontinental Hockey League.

“We wanted to upgrade our defense, and certainly Brian is a big part of that,”Bowman said as per Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-TimesBowman said as per Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times. “We’re very high on Michal Kempny, as well. Everything’s new to him over here now. He has one year in the KHL and he did great his first year there, and we’re going he has a great transition to the NHL, as well."

The 25 year old will be a rookie next season and is fully expected to spend most if not all of his time at the NHL level. He will however bring one year of professional experience from the KHL where he played 59 games for Omsk Avangard, putting up 21 points and finish with a +18 differential on the season.
