The Chicago Blackhawks are in a bit of a precarious situation between the pipes down the road - Corey Crawford is still a high-end goalie and will provide the team with plenty more time for a prospect to develop into the next starter for the team.
Is that future goalie Ivan Nalimov? It may be too soon to say - but on a basement-dweller team in the KHL, he has really started to heat up as of late.
He currently plays backup for the Vladivostok Admiral - a team that has merely 8 wins in 32 games. Their starting goalis has 5 wins in 20 games.
Nalimov, for his part, has a sparkling 0.931 save percentage and 2.26 goals against average in 10 games.
Drafted in the 6th round (179th overall) in the 2014 NHL entry draft, Nalimov was a bit of a long-shot, but history has proven lately that goalies are completely unpredictable at a young age - some current NHL calibre goalies today never even went through the draft.
Nalimov will be a player to monitor over the next couple of years - he may find his way overseas sooner than later if he keeps up his strong play between the pipes.
