Report: Blackhawks use Patrick Kane in attempt to lure top free agent.
Keystone Press.

The Chicago Blackhawks may not get free agent Jimmy Vesey, but even if they don't there's no doubt that they pulled out all the stops to make it happen.

We already knew that the Blackhawks had sent general manager Stan Bowman himself to scout Vesey this summer on multiple occasions, and we know now thanks to a report from The Providence Journal's Mark Driver that the Blackhawks also included Patrick Kane in their pitch to Vesey.

Driver reports that Kane was among the Chicago contingent that met with Vesey in Boston this week, and one has to imagine the presence of a player like Kane, the league's Art Ross and Hart Memorial Trophy winner, is a very strong selling point.

The addition with a forward of Vesey's talent would be yet another brilliant coup from general manager Stan Bowman.
