Report: Blashill may be on his way out
KeyStone Press

The Detroit Red Wings are off to a pretty horrendous start to their 2017-18 season. They ended a string of 6 losses Saturday night to the Florida Panthers, but it took a shootout to do it.

There have been talks that head coach Jeff Blashill may have to look for a new job soon.

Two NHL insiders - Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun and Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman - have speculated the same exact thing on separate occasions Saturday, suggesting that with the team trending downwards, that Blashill may be on his way out and that a logical replacement would be Dave Tippett.

Tippett served as the head coach of the Arizona Coyotes from 2009 - until he was fired in 2017. He's a widely respected coach in the National Hockey League - and won the Jack Adams trophy for coach of the year in his very first season with the Yotes.

With Detroit having missed the playoffs for the first time in 25 years, and in a somewhat of a retool mode, this could be a realistic eventuality.

What do you think, Wings fans? Do you still have confidence in Blashill?
