Report: Bowman addresses latest trade rumors

In his latest article for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Blackhawks beat reporter Chris Hine takes a look at the team’s salary cap situation and surveys the trade market for a fit in the team’s top nine forward group.

With about $2.5 million to spend thanks to the cap relief the team gets as a result of Marian Hossa’s situation, Hine argues that the Hawks could make a worthwhile addition, but Hawks GM Stan Bowman isn’t having any of it.

“We have got a lot of good players who are sitting out every night, so I don’t know if we’re going to be acquiring another player,” says the Hawks GM . “Things are going to change. Whether players’ play will drop off, or players get injured. … If there’s something that makes sense down the road, whether it’s in a month or in three months, then we would look into it. But I don’t think that’s a top priority right now.”

Well there goes that theory… Regardless, Hawks fans have to feel confident with the team’s situation as it currently rests. The team is 5-3-2 with plenty of depth in the minors. Should a need for an addition arise, Bowman has the cash he needs to make it happen.
