Now we are wondering how the Canucks will pull this off…

Brock Boeser isn’t the only star restricted free agent still left unsigned as training camps open, however, many insiders believe both he and the Vancouver Canucks are way far apart to get a mutual agreement in the next few days.

At first, it had been reported that Boeser’s agent, Ben Hankinson,“has an appetite for a four-year extension at $7 million annually”this summer and could become the Canucks highest-paid player this season.

However on Thursday, Matthew Sekeres revealed on Vancouver's TSN 1040 that Boeser was offered a massive contract earlier this summer, but turned it down.

“My understanding is the Canucks offered Brock Boeser a 6 year deal worth $42M around the draft. $7M on the AAV. It was turned down.”

The Canucks are cap-strapped and might be looking to get an affordable bridge deal agreement with Boeser for some breathing room. However, fans and players are aware that the kid is worthy of a significant pay raise.

And apparently, he might want more than what his agent insinuated.

Boeser had 26 goals and 56 points in 69 games last season after posting 29 goals and 55 points in 62 games as a rookie in 2017-18. He is the Canucks lone remaining restricted free agent after the team signed forward Nikolay Goldobin to a one-year contract extension on Wednesday.

Let’s see where this one heads…
