Report: Bruins need to trade Rask

The Boston Bruins have had issues convincing the hockey world that they can be a significant Cup contender, and one writer in particular believes the Bruins will never win a championship if the situation in between the pipes remains the same.

According to Joe Haggerty of NBC SportsTuukka Rask will never allow the Bruins to be crowned champions and GM Don Sweeney needs to start looking at placing the veteran netminder on the trade block.

"The Bruins will have to play him and pump up his value if they any hopes of trading him in the future," Haggerty writes.

"The B's need to draft, sign or trade for Rask’s heir apparent, and pave the way for that goaltender to be in Boston a couple of years from now when they're again ready for a Stanley Cup push."

Anton Khudobin made his third straight start Wednesday night against the New Jersey Devils, winning a third consecutive game for his team. The Bruins backup has outplayed Rask with his NHL-leading .938 save percentage compared to Rask's subpar .897.

After nine seasons with the Bruins, Rask has proven he isn’t the guy to take them to the Cup. But rival clubs cannot dismiss his Vezina Trophy or his All-Star level seasons and could benefit to have him in the fold.
