The Ottawa Senators have removed 1,500 seats from Canadian Tire Centre to "right size" the building. The capacity is now around 17,000.

The news came in the form of a tweet from TSN 1200 reporter Ian Mendes.

The Senators struggled to fill seats all of last season, with just 16,744 showing up to Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinal against the New York Rangers.

The team did end up selling out the majority of their home playoff games, but it's clear people seem to care more about capacity percentage than raw ticket sales.

The Senators gave fans a look at the arena for the season.
