A tough break for the Red Wings.

Earlier in the week the Detroit Red Wings were forced to deal with a headache not of their own making, and on Friday it got even worse.

Initially reports surfaced that the make up game would be held in March, and Sportsnet's John Shannon would go on to confirm that the 27th of that month was in fact the planned date for that game, a potentially significant problem for the Red Wings.

At that time the Red Wings could very well be fighting for a playoff spot, and now they will be forced to deal with a terrible schedule because of the Hurricanes' mistake. According to NHL.com's Michael Smith, the change of date will force the Red Wings to play three games in three nights around that date, clearly not an ideal scenario for Detroit.

It will be interesting to see how this scenario develops, we can certainly see some very angry fans in Detroit should this end up being a factor in their playoff hopes.
