An interesting move from Vancouver.

It was no secret that Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning would be looking to improve his depth up front during the offseason and once again it appears the Canucks have found a creative way to do so.

While he will likely be viewed as a reclamation project, the Canucks have reportedly lured former 9th overall pick in the 2006 NHL draft James Sheppard, away from Europe and back to the National Hockey League.

There has been no official comment from the Canucks but according to a report from Canucks insider Ian  MacIntyre of the Vancouver Sun the Canucks will be signing Sheppard to a professional tryout offer. This doesn't guarantee him a spot on the roster but he will likely be one of the more intriguing tryouts this summer, according to MacIntrye Sheppard will not be the only one.
