Long-time Vancouver Canucks Henrik and Daniel Sedin have been the team’s backbone for nearly 20 years. Since joining the team in 2000, they’ve seen it all and been through the good times and bad times with their franchise. But, with the Canucks clearly in the middle of a rebuild and the 36-year-old Sedins clearly in the latter stages of their careers, what does the future hold for both parties?

Canucks general manager Jim Benning was on Sportsnet 650 Vancouver radio this morning where he was asked about the twins’ future. While Benning stopped short of making an official announcement himself, he did say “we will make an announcement soon about Sedin twins and their future.” This news was followed up by the announcement that Daniel Sedin himself will appear on the radio this afternoon at 1pm PT to make a formal announcement.

Canucks fans have speculated wildly that the announcement could indicate a contract extension or an early retirement. Who knows? Tune into Sportsnet 650 today to find out!
