Report: Canucks sign goaltender to multi-year deal.

The Vancouver Canucks got an important deal done on Thursday, re-signing their young goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a three year deal.

While the financial details of the contract were not released by the organization, it is believed that the contract will carry an average annual value of $3.67 million, a reasonable price for a player the Canucks very likely believe will be their starter in the near future.

General manager Jim Benning release the following official statement:

“Jacob is a talented, competitive goaltender with size and a proven ability to make big saves at crucial moments in a game,” said Jim Benning. “He set career highs in several statistical categories last season and two years ago led the Comets to their first Calder Cup Final. He’s motivated and wants to help his team win. We’re excited to have Jacob competing in a Canucks uniform for years to come.”

With Ryan Miller entering the final year of his deal with Vancouver, getting this deal done was likely a top priority for Vancouver's management team.
