Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux reached an important milestone in his team win against the New York Islanders on Friday. The Flyers lost this game 5-4 in overtime. Giroux scored a goal, his 10th of the season, which was the 600th point of his NHL career. He also added an assist for his 601st point. He becomes the fourth player of the 2006 draft to reach that milestone (Nicklas Backstrom, Phil Kessel and Jonathan Toews did it before him).

Giroux, 29, was drafted 22nd overall by the Flyers in 2006. In 679 games played in the NHL so far, he has now 601 points. He added 62 points in 63 playoff games.

So far this season, the Hearst, Ontario native registered 26 points in 23 games.
