Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux has long been known as the team's top-line center, but things are going to look a little bit different in a preseason game against the New York Rangers on Monday night.

Throughout training camp, Giroux has shifted to the wing, as head coach Dave Hakstol looks to ignite the 29-year-old after he scored a career-low 14 goals in 2016-17. His 58 points last season also marked a fourth straight drop-off.

Giroux has played as a winger in the past and talked about the adjustment with CSN Philly.

"Game is still the same," Giroux said. "There's not much different to center and winger. Obviously breakouts, you're on the boards, but offensively, you're kind of all over the place, so it doesn't really matter.Hopefully I get the puck a little bit more. We'll see."

"If it goes well, it's obviously an option that we're going to look at this year."

Sean Couturier will center the top line, while Giroux's longtime linemate Jakub Voracek will remain at his position on the right wing.
