“I would like to get him back in the 20 goal range.” But… can he get there on the third line?

The Vancouver Canucks’ signing of veteran forward Loui Eriksson is perhaps the team’s biggest misstep during the reign of GM Jim Benning and team president Trevor Linden. The $36 million dollar man has been a massive flop in Vancouver through one season and two games of his six-year free-agent deal. The 32-year-old produced just 11 goals and 24 points in 65 games last season, after putting up 30 goals and 63 points a year prior.

Now, with a new head coach behind the bench in Travis Green, will Eriksson be given more of an opportunity to produce? So far, it isn’t looking good as Eriksson has languished on the team’s 3rd line through two games and has only mustered two shots on the season.

So, what does Green expect from his $6 million dollar winger? "I would like to get him back in the 20 goal range,” said Green after today’s morning skate. So, what’s the plan for getting Eriksson back there? Look to the power play, where it’s expected he’ll slot in with fellow Swedes Henrik and Daniel Sedin.
